Coast Ranch Company Australian Shepherds

Australian Shepherds are a medium size dog. This breed was developed in the United States. We call them Australian Shepherds because the breed was developed for herding Australian Sheep in the early 20th century.

Despite popular rumors, today Australian Shepherds are much more commonly a family pet, service animal, police dogs, obedience competitors and agility athletes, than a dog sought out specifically for herding. Australian Shepherds are a balanced breed, from their drive, loyalty, affection and good nature.

Aussies are active, yet easy going dogs. This makes them a wonderful fit for your situation. They are chameleon dogs ready to blend right into your life.

Australian Shepherds life expectancy is approximately 13-15 years. The first Australian Shepherd I ever owned passed away in 2020 at age 17 after an accident. Before her death she was still going on short horse back rides with me and swimming with my younger dogs.

I strive for perfection when it comes to our Australian Shepherds bloodlines and am only breeding dogs with complete genetic panels.
